David Trapp
Managing Director
David Trapp
Managing Director
Dave’s in this for the goosebump moments. It’s what got him into the events industry and it’s why he’s been doing it for 30 plus years.
Dave drives much of the innovation in the business, pushing the boundaries of what’s achievable creatively, with a focus on technology. His balance of creative vision and technical knowledge is invaluable in creating unique and exciting concepts for Lux clients. He’s always seen events as a way to tell stories, using light and sound to invoke emotion.
Dave’s favourite thing about his business is the team. He’s constantly inspired by a group of professionals who share a passion for what they do.
A self-proclaimed ‘simple guy’, Dave’s a proud dad who loves travel adventures and is a health and fitness machine. When he’s not suited up running a show, you’ll find him at the gym, competing in triathlons or on the rugby field.
Kirsty Mainstone
Events Director
Kirsty Mainstone
Events Director
Following four years immersed in London’s events industry, Kirsty joined Lux in 2010 where she started the Events Management arm of the business. From client liaison to creative concepts, Kirsty manages the team to deliver what we promise every time.
A moment with her pink tape recorder in the 80s sparked her love of events. She realised the power of a good sting when she played ‘Electric Blue’ at a school sports carnival. The vibe was set and that was that.
She went on to earn a degree in Commerce, PR and Marketing from Curtin University, but it was her time at the Australian Hotels Association that encouraged her to make the switch from communications to events.
Highlights from Kirsty’s 20+ year career include working for HP on the Sundance Film Festival in the US and the opening of Terminal 5 at Heathrow Airport in the UK, which was opened by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Closer to home, the Shining the Light water projection installation for the Australia Day Council was one of Lux’s most successful collaborative projects, working closely with local aboriginal elders and a range of event partners to create an experience that was impactful, meaningful and well received by thousands.
She loves how the events Lux delivers may only last a few hours, but those hours can be the ‘best night ever’ for those people. The power events have to change people’s perception on an issue or imbed memories forever is pretty rad stuff in her books.
Interestingly, Kirsty carried the Olympic torch in 2000 and speaks Norwegian, a skill she honed living in Norway on exchange as a student.
Outside of work, Kirsty like to cook, eat and repeat. She’s an adventurer and likes to explore new places (to eat) and spend time with her gorgeous young family.
Andrew Hiscox
Production Director
Andrew Hiscox
Production Director
Andrew brings over 28 years of experience and dad jokes to the Lux team. Known for his sublime showcraft, he leads the production team with knowledge, expertise and vast professional networks.
Andrew qualified with a degree in Production and Design majoring in Sound Production from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts.
Since then, his skills have taken him around the world and into some very interesting situations, including events requiring permanent military escort in Beijing and the 1997 Pacific Rim Forum, which took place in Hong Kong as Great Britain handed back Hong Kong to China. He was working in Sydney during the hype of the 2000 Olympics and has driven production for the annual Diggers and Dealers Forum for over 26 years. One of his biggest career thrills includes calling the show for One Big Voice, an event that saw 15,000 participants amass inside RAC Arena.
Andrew loves the culture, event diversity and people at Lux, not to mention the top notch gear. He was initially drawn to this industry because of the technology and how fast it was evolving. It was the beginning of digital sound and video editing, video switching and the convergence of slide projection and video projection for business events.
Outside work, Andrew loves his shed. Woodworking and DIY projects make him a happy man, especially if it means creating a better home for his family. He’s also an expert on 80s alternative music, a collector of records and loves his HIFI.

Grant Capriotti
Experience Design and Communications
Grant Capriotti
Experience Design and Communications
Grant started his first events business at 19 years old. He realised that ‘winging it’ was no longer an option when these shows started to sell out, so he completed a Bachelor of Arts in Arts Management at the WA Academy of Performing Arts. Upon graduating, Grant was snapped up by one of Australia’s leading commercial theatre producers. Relocating to Sydney, he managed marketing for touring musical theatre productions in Australia, New Zealand and London’s West End.
Back in Perth, Grant became a respected name in the media and events industries through his highly regarded PR and events agency, Muse Bureau, which he founded in 2009. His career highlights include working as Hugh Jackman’s publicist when he was in Perth to launch his foundation, as well as producing high-end launch events for Prada, LVMH, Rolex, H&M, Kartell, TAG Heuer and QT Hotels. Two of his greatest achievements are producing award-winning gala events ART BALL for the Art Gallery of Western Australia, and ALTITUDE for the Royal Flying Doctor Service, which he designed and delivered for many years.
In 2016 Grant won the People’s Choice Award at the Business News 40 Under 40 Awards, which recognises excellence among WA’s young business professionals. The same year he was named in The West Australian’s ‘100 Most Influential West Australian’s’ list, which amuses him to no end.
Grant is currently completing a Diploma of Industrial Design and sits on the board of architecture festival, Open House Perth. He is an experienced fashion runway producer and was also the first reviewer from WA to write for luxury hotel group, Mr & Mrs Smith. He was recently honoured with Life Membership to ARTRAGE for his ongoing contribution to Fringe World Perth, which he has worked on since its inception.
Grant is passionate about art and design, practising both in his spare time with hopes of having his own design studio someday.
Amy Friel
Event Manager
Amy Friel
Event Manager
Amy gave up her dream of becoming a marine biologist because she is scared of seaweed. That’s a good thing because it freed her up to become an absolute gun in the events industry.
Hailing from Northern Ireland, she fell in love with events after attending her very first concert – Westlife. Swept up by the lights and atmosphere of the 90s boy band movement, she made it her mission to make people feel the same joy she did in that moment. Since then, Amy earned a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Leisure and Event Management from Ulster University in Northern Ireland and has worked across multiple event disciplines, including corporate, large scale, outdoor and concerts. Coordinating hot air balloons and fireworks simultaneously over a sea of tall ships for millions of spectators is the kind of stuff that gets Amy fired up.
Amy’s energy is matched with her approachability and good humour and she brings a wealth of international experience to the team. Amy once organised a roadshow with seven events across five cities in two countries with three weeks lead time – a true testament to her expertise, agility and diligence.
She’s a movie buff, a tea expert and an illusionist (wears active wear to get coffee). She’s passionately opposed to banana’s and once illustrated a children’s book, which is ironic because she can’t draw.
Mandy Shade
Event Coordinator
Mandy Shade
Event Coordinator
Mandy has been working her magic at Lux for eight years. Following a ten-year stint in information technology, Mandy made the leap into the events industry and hasn’t looked back. From new business and logistics through to accounts and supplier management, Mandy is a key support to Lux’s senior management and events team.
Mandy is qualified in Business Administration, which complements her elite attention to detail. Balancing this is her unique creativity, exceptional interpersonal skills and genuine love of helping others.
She loves the diversity of her role and how the Lux team continues to grow with accomplished people bringing their impressive skills to the Lux family.
Two of her favourite moments at Lux involve large scale projection – the 270-degree custom multimedia piece created for the Altitude Ball in the aircraft hangar at the Royal Flying Doctor Service of WA and the unique water projection show at Elizabeth Quay for Australia Day 2021, which was created in collaboration with local aboriginal elders.
Gardening and summer sunshine rate pretty highly for Mandy, nearly as high as dogs and documentaries. It’s a little known fact that Mandy is one half of a sibling duo that works at Lux. Can you guess who?
Tim Johnstone
Multimedia Manager
Tim Johnstone
Multimedia Manager
Tim’s interest in graphics started back in school when he designed the Girrawheen SHS yearbook. Since then, he’s worked as a freelance graphic designer for over 18 years before joining the Lux team full time in 2022.
Tim is a design all-rounder, having worked on motion graphics and video-editing projects as well as digital and print design. He loves designing content for large-scale conferences and gala events well as crowd engagement activations for sports, which is where he really gets to flex his creativity.
Tim’s keenness for exploring hiking trails around Perth is balanced by his passion for anything with a screen. He’s a PC gaming enthusiast and loves to keep up to date with the latest gadgets and consumer tech.
Tim brings a good balance of fun and professionalism to the team, and he’s always up for a good laugh.
As well as being a design weapon, one of the most surprising facts about Tim is that he and his wife have an Instagram-famous pet duck named Christmas, who has nearly 20,000 Instagram followers. Don’t believe us? Check out @Christmas_the_duck
You’re welcome.

James Martin
Production Manager
A love of live music and sport led James to his 22-year strong career in the events industry. Having gained an Advanced Diploma in Production and Design from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts in the late 90s, it’s been guns blazing for James ever since.
Highly experienced and a stickler for quality, James loves the diversity his role brings – new people, new environments and new challenges. Some of his career highlights include working on Fremantle Football Club Game Days, twelve Doig Medal presentations, the Karrinyup Shopping Centre redevelopment launch event series and the launch of the AGWA Design Store at the Art Gallery of Western Australia.
A dedicated family man, sport and live bands also rate among his favourite pastimes. James also has a huge collection of dad jokes and vinyl records, one of which he uses to hone his amateur DJ skills.
Damiano Minghetti
Production Manager and CAD Design
Damiano Minghetti
Production Manager and CAD Design
Born and raised in Rome, Damiano brings over 25 years of Italian passion and creativity to the Lux team – as well as some delightfully questionable English. His hopeless passion for double espresso is only outdone by his sense of humour and expert ability to engineer relationships between people and technology.
Damiano specialises in creative and experiential projects at Lux, where his lateral thinking comes into its own. His background in creating visual experiences in clubs, theatres and outdoor events set him in good stead to transition into an expert lighting and video mapping technician.
Damiano was once the Technical Director of Dissonanze, an annual electronic music and video art festival held at the Palazzo Palazzo dei Congressi in Rome. At Lux, some of his best event experiences have been the Altitude Ball for the RDFS in their Jandakot hangar, as well as the annual Art Ball galas at the Art Gallery of WA and the Brookfield Winter Lights installations.
Passionate about music, Damiano is also experienced in both sides of the music biz. He plays guitar, keys and drums (skills he is trying to pass onto his kids) and, following studies in digital audio production, founded and operated his own recording studio.
Damiano loves the variety and respectful culture at Lux, as well as the encouragement to aim high and set challenging goals.
Frans Jansen
Technical Director and Production Designer
Frans Jansen
Technical Director and Production Designer
Frans is an internationally renowned lighting designer who joined the Lux team in 2021.
Watching live concerts and festivals on TV as a young kid ignited a love for how lighting brings a show to life. At just nine years old, Frans started a hobby disco show with a friend that grew into a legitimate business. Twenty years later, he’s still in love with creating lighting shows, but with bigger and better toys.
He studied sound and vision in The Netherlands, specialising in lighting design. Touring the UK with Take That in 2009 opened his eyes to the world of logistics and large scale production, which set the tone for his professional career. Since then, he’s worked primarily on large scale dance festivals around the world. One of his favourite experiences include working on the 2015 Defqon.1 Festival in Santiago, Chile. The energy and atmosphere was pure magic – unlike anything he’d ever seen before.
His experience in the European festival market is invaluable to Lux. He’s a perfectionist and uses his global networks to discover new and exciting ways to create the best lighting shows Perth has seen.
Outside of work, Frans is a keen woodworker and DIY aficionado. A Dutch native, Frans followed his heart to Perth where he now lives with his wife and young family. Lights are cool, but nothing makes him happier than rolling around on the lounge room floor with his young son.

Jon is a legend in the audio industry. While he is new to the Lux team, he certainly isn’t new to the biz. An enduring passion for film, entertainment and live music made Jon want to dedicate his professional life to this crazy yet rewarding industry. That was 35 years ago.
Jon is widely known as the founder of Phase One Audio, which he started in 1996 and grew to great heights before selling in 2017. A logistical and physical challenge, it took three days to build and he loved every minute.

She’s always thought tech was really fun… and she’s not wrong. Working in stage management at school sparked her love for the industry and she soon realised her passion for audio and band mixing. One of Kate’s favourite moments was mixing the Beef and Beer Festival in Karratha. It was her first time mixing a festival and she nailed it.
Kate has qualifications in Music Video Production from TAFE South Australia. Five years in to her exciting career and Kate has already achieved star status within the Lux team. She’s a hard worker with a calming presence and an exemplary can-do attitude.

Sam’s creativity is matched by her technical knowledge, which makes her pretty unstoppable.

To celebrate 50 years since the release of Pink Floyd’s classic ‘Dark Side of the Moon’, she synced up the eclipse with the album’s final lyrics “but the sun is eclipsed by the moon’ in an amazing installation on WA’s regional coast. She’s also super proud of the seven-hour stint hand-making epic crystal chandeliers for the Telethon Ball.
A mad keen rollerskater, when she’s not installing an event, you’ll find Sam carving up the concrete anywhere she can.

Rob Lizzi
Operations Manager
Rob Lizzi
Operations Manager
Rob found his way into this industry by mistake, and we’re glad he did. He used to hire a vision mixer to a staging company who were looking for camera operators. The rest, as they say, is history.
One of his favourite career memories was New Year’s Eve in 1999, mixing cameras on Cottesloe beach for national concert, The Last Australia Sunset, in front of 65,000 punters. The televised event was coordinated across the country, with live crosses as the sun set in each state on the final day of the 1900s.
These days, Rob doesn’t often see the final product of the events we produce. Instead, he waves the trucks off as they roll out the warehouse and welcomes them back when they roll back in hours later, usually through very tired eyes.
In his role as Operations Manager, no two days are ever the same. He gets to be a social worker, a friend, a dad, and sometimes even the bad guy. Rob’s wisdom and experience are highly valued at Lux.
Rob is passionate about sports photography and when he’s not juggling crew and logistics at the warehouse, you’ll find him on the sidelines at his local soccer club where he volunteers as the club photographer.

Business Accountant
Aimie Potter
Business Accountant
Aimie has been whirling numbers for over 17 years. Her interest in business and numbers started early when she started learning the art of bookkeeping in Far North Queensland at just 17 years old. She made this official by earning a Bachelor of Business (Accountancy) from the Queensland University of Technology and a Graduate Diploma of Chartered Accounting from Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand. Aimie also has a Cert IV in Training & Assessment as well and Cert IV in Massage Therapy.
Aimie’s childhood aspirations to become a florist were nearly realised when she landed an in-house accounting role for a flower wholesaler. She would help pack orders in the warehouse then go into the office to work on the accounts, which eventually led to her completing a Cert II and Cert III in Floristry. The temptation of walking into a warehouse full of flowers nearly took her away from the books and into the blooms!
Aimie values the proactive approach to improve business systems at Lux, as well as the generosity shown towards staff. Her vast professional knowledge, megawatt smile and friendliness makes her a key asset to the Lux team.
Aimie’s skills are revered in the office, especially every second Thursday when she processes payroll.
